The European Cancer Community Foundation Grants Model

Supporting community-led solutions that improve cancer care across Europe
The European Cancer Community Foundation funds community-driven projects that improve cancer care, strengthen health literacy, and build the next generation of cancer leaders.

Through a competitive grants programme, we back the initiatives with the greatest potential to make a lasting difference for patients, professionals, health systems, and communities across Europe.

How the model works

It starts with a simple idea: support the people closest to the problem.

The Foundation pools funding from organisations, corporations, and philanthropic partners. That funding is then channelled through targeted grant programmes built around the priorities of the European cancer community.

Every grant follows a clear pathway

The Foundation supports initiatives that generate evidence, strengthen collaboration, and drive change across the European cancer community.
Funding: We raise financial support from organisations, corporations and foundations that share our commitment to better cancer care
Grants: A programme of grants is established to support community-driven initiatives
Output: Grants are awarded through a competitive process to select the most promising projects
Outcomes & Impact: Real results for the people involved in the projects, cancer patients, health systems, wider ecosystem

Every project is chosen through an independent, competitive process that ensures funding goes to initiatives with the greatest potential for impact

Creating Impact Across Europe

Every funded project reaches beyond its own community. The knowledge it generates is shared across the European cancer community, helping organisations learn from one another and accelerate progress together.

  • Grants fund community-driven projects that strengthen cancer care.
  • Funded projects build strong partnerships and put data to work.
  • Insights reach the wider European cancer community.
  • Communities share what they learn and collaborate on research, policy and advocacy.
  • The ECO network turns that shared learning into real change
